The manner in which water is artificially applied to an area. The methods and the manner of applying the water are as follows
- Border-strip
- The water is applied at the upper end of a strip with earthen borders confining the water to the strip.
- Flooding
- The water is released from the field ditches and allowed to flood over the land.
- Furrow
- The water is applied to row crops in ditches made by tillage implements.
- Sprinkler
- The water is sprayed over the soil surface through nozzles from a pressure system.
